Indigenous languages are an essential aspect of cultural identity and heritage. However, the world is losing indigenous languages at an alarming rate. To address this issue, the United Nations declared 2022-2032 as the International Decade for Indigenous Languages (IDIL). This panel discussion aims to explore the significance of indigenous languages in Nepal and how youth can engage in celebrating IDIL.
The main objectives of the panel discussion are:
- To raise awareness about the importance of indigenous languages particularly in local areas/communities of Lumbini, Nepal.
- To discuss the challenges facing indigenous languages and efforts being made to preserve them.
- To explore the role of youth in celebrating IDIL and promoting indigenous languages in Nepal.
