Workshop on the preservation and development of the culture of the Russian Cossacks

On May 30, 2023, a workshop on “Practical work on organizational, informational, advisory, methodological support for the activities of Cossack societies and other associations of Cossacks in the field of preservation and development of the culture of the Russian Cossacks” was held at the Saratov Regional Institute for the Development of Education.

Natalia V. Troshina, Minister of Internal Policy and Public Relations of the Saratov Region, opened the seminar and analyzed the activities of Cossack societies and associations in the year that has passed since a similar seminar in April 2022.

Anton Andreevich Prakhov, Vice-Rector of the Saratov Regional Institute of Educational Development for Innovation and Project Activities, welcomed the participants of the seminar.

The work of Cossack societies and organizations is supervised by the Federal Agency for Nationalities. Gleb Andreevich Toropov, Head of the Department for Interaction with National-cultural autonomies, Cossack societies and civil society Institutions of the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs (Moscow) addressed the participants of the seminar.

Andrey Viktorovich Fetisov, ataman of the District Cossack Society of the Saratov region, spoke about the coordinated work of the Saratov department of the Volga Military Cossack Society.

Oksana Borisovna Ryabova, director of the MOE “Secondary School No. 43 named after Hero of the Soviet Union V.F. Margelov” of the Zavodsky district of Saratov, shared not only the successes of her students, but also offered to resolve the issue of the official status of educational organizations with a Cossack component in the Saratov region.

Konstantin Yakovlevich Perenizhko, first deputy (comrade) ataman of the All-Russian Cossack Society (Moscow) emphasized the active work of the Cossacks of the Saratov region to preserve culture, gave practical advice on assigning the status of educational organizations with a Cossack component to schools and kindergartens of our region.

Archpriest Andrey Orekhov, Deputy head of the diocesan Department for Interaction with the Cossacks, told the participants about the role of the Russian Orthodox Church in the field of preservation and development of the culture of the Russian Cossacks.

Two platforms were opened at the seminar: “Preservation and development of Cossack culture. The history of formation and ways of preservation” and “Patriotic education and promotion of a healthy lifestyle of young people” (including Cossack). Heads of Cossack societies and associations, cultural and scientific figures, representatives of various ministries and departments – the Border Department of the FSB of Russia for the Saratov and Samara regions, the Department of the Ministry of Justice of Russia for the Saratov Region, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Saratov Region and other interested organizations spoke at the venues. They made a number of proposals, the practical implementation of which will be aimed at activating patriotic education of young people, instilling cultural Cossack values, improving information and explanatory work on the activities of Cossack societies and associations.
