Moscow open competition “Bilingua”

On November 16-17, 2023, Moscow hosted the final events and award ceremony of the Bilingua contest, which this year was held for the ninth time with the scientific and methodological support of MPGU by the Center for Promotion of Interethnic Education “Ethnosphere” within the framework of the Moscow City Government project. The finalists of the contest were both residents of Moscow and representatives of the regions of the Russian Federation and foreign countries. On November 16, they came to the Corps of Humanities Faculties of the Moscow Pedagogical State University, where a round table was held, where the guys in different languages presented their works – bilingual essays, which they wrote in their native languages and Russian. Also on this day the guests attended the events of the Third Pedagogical Film Forum: schoolchildren from the regions together with their Moscow peers learned to make cartoons at master classes, and teachers became participants of the Pedagogical Round Table “School and Family Cinema – to help teachers, parents, educators” and the Methodological Workshop “Intercultural Education and Cinematography”.
In 2023, the Bilingua competition received more than 300 applications. According to the terms of the contest, the authors present the proposed topic in two languages: their native language and Russian.

This year’s competition was particularly active with students, in particular from Moscow (MADI, Russian State University of Science and Technology, Russian State University of Social Sciences, Russian State University of Social Sciences, Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky), from the regions of the Russian Federation (Naberezhnochelninsk State Pedagogical University, Mordovian State University named after M. E. Evsevyev, Kazan Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen; Sterlitamak branch of Ufa University of Science and Technology, Pacific State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky). M.E. Evsevyev, Kazan Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, A.I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University; Sterlitamak branch of Ufa University of Science and Technology, Pacific State University); from China (Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences), from Belgrade University (Serbia), from Belarusian National Technical University and others. Thus, the contest received a lot of essays written by non-humanities authors. The authors of essays from big cities, small towns and villages of Russia were invited to the final events: in total, 16 regions of Russia were represented at the finals.

A special feature of the 2023 competition is a special theme for teachers: “As long as the national language is alive in the mouths of the people, the people are alive too…” (K.D. Ushinsky). Teachers and students from Chuvashia and Tatarstan were particularly active. There were also works from Vietnam, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Lebanon, Lebanon, Moldova, Mongolia, Serbia, Syria and the USA.

The awarding ceremony was held on November 17 in the center of Moscow: the guys received diplomas and memorable gifts. V.I. Suchkov, Head of the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of Moscow, took part in the awarding ceremony.
