Ossetian Language and Ossetian Literature Olympiad

In order to identify and develop students’ creative abilities and interest in scientific research activities, create the necessary conditions to support gifted children, and promote scientific knowledge, the municipal stage of the Ossetian Language and Ossetian Literature Olympiad for schoolchildren was held:

On 6-7 of February, the municipal stage of the Ossetian Language and Literature Olympiad was held. The total number of participants was 1792;

On 20 and 22 of March, the republican (final) stage of the Olympiad in Ossetian language and Ossetian literature, in which 69 pupils in grades 9-11, winners of the municipal stage of the Olympiad, took part.

On 20 of February a republican Olympiad for teachers of native language and literature was held in order to identify, support and encourage creative teachers of general education organizations with high knowledge of the subject. The Olympiad tasks consisted of test questions on phonetics, orthoepy, word formation, lexicology, phraseology, morphology, syntax, language history, etymology, text analysis, speech culture, spelling and punctuation, as well as questions on literature. The methodological council of the Department of Ossetian Language and Literature checks the contestants’ works. The teachers who scored the highest number of points are recognized as winners.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
