A single Ethnic Day in the International Library
On July 30, friends, participants of the fourth regional action “United ETHNoden”, dedicated to the culture of the peoples of the Middle Urals, gathered in the Sverdlovsk Regional interethnic Library. And this is not just a figure of speech – our action was held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk region on July 30, 2024, the International Day of Friendship, in order to preserve, support and promote the cultures of the peoples living in the Sverdlovsk region, strengthen civil unity in the region, establish friendly ties between the numerous peoples of the Russian Federation.
On this day, 154 municipal libraries of the Sverdlovsk region became platforms for the formation of ethnocultural competence and ethnocultural knowledge of the region’s residents.
The regional action “United ETHNoden-2024” was held in various formats (online, offline, hybrid) – these are events of different forms: public lectures, meetings with representatives of the peoples of the Middle Urals, literary programs, master classes, exhibitions, intellectual games, etc. One of the main themes of this year’s events was the theme of family, family values and customs of different peoples. And the action ended with a festive concert in the International Library.
We can say with full confidence that our events are always informal, friendly and loving. The concert was opened by the performance of the members of the Russian song ensemble “Blagovest” Yuri Boriskov, Galina Rechitskaya and Natalia Egorova.
The regional public organization of the National Cultural Autonomy of the Mari People of the Sverdlovsk region “Ural Mari” are our long-time friends and regular participants in our actions and events – they always respond and are ready to cooperate – read poetry, please, write dictation – please, sing – with pleasure. The head of this organization Natalia Yabekova and Alevtina Ilimbayeva came this time with a drinking song “Tyuzhemdenat Tyuzhemdenat”, and Natalia Nikolaevna’s daughters Vanessa and Polianna performed the song “Shochmo ver” – Native land.
The Sverdlovsk regional public association Udmurt National Cultural Society “Eges” was represented by Galina Antuganova, she read a poem about the family.
The performance of a member of the Congress of Tatars of the Sverdlovsk region, winner of multiple contests and festivals of Tatar culture, choirmaster – head of the Tatar song collective “Yashlek” (“Youth”) was vivid and memorable The Sverdlovsk State Regional Palace of Folk Art by Rafis Nigamadyanov. He sang three songs, one of which was called “Tui kulmage” (“Wedding Dress”).
This message was immediately picked up by members of the Center of Udmurt Culture of the Sverdlovsk region “Ural Kenesh” (head Georgy Shamshiyarov). They have prepared a dramatization of the national wedding ceremony – how the bride enters the groom’s house to stay there as a wife. Each nation has its own ancient customs and rituals, which are still preserved.
And Rafis Nigamadyanov cheerfully and incendiously concluded our friendly gatherings. I wanted to dance to his songs about youth, happiness, friendship and love!
The Big Dipper Society of Russian Culture helped to design the stage for the holiday. Unique items collected during the expeditions were presented: Ural children’s toys, wedding dresses. And how about without treats – in Russia, friends are not allowed to go hungry! A rich table was set by friends, national cultural associations. The guests were able to taste Bashkir honey and dishes of Russian, Mari, Udmurt, Tatar cuisine.
