A flower laying ceremony at the tomb of Kosta Khetagurov

On 15 October, flowers were laid at the tomb of Kosta Khetagurov in the pantheon of the Ossetian Church. This was the beginning of celebrations to mark the 165th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding poet, publicist, playwright, artist and founder of the literary Ossetian language.

The event was attended by Boris Dzhanaev, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, representatives of the local government administration in Vladikavkaz, members of the Writers’ Union and the entire Ossetian national movement Styr Nykhas, representatives of the scientific and teaching communities, and students of the republic’s educational organisations.

During the memorial rally, Boris Khoziev, Chairman of the Writers’ Union, spoke about the poet’s creative path, his mission and significance.
