Salekhard | The library named after Roman Rugin in Salekhard

Lines from the poems of the Khanty poet and writer Prokopy Saltykov were heard at a meeting in the library named after Roman Rugin in Salekhard.

The initiator of the meeting is Nina Eger, a teacher at the Yamal Multidisciplinary College. She collects pieces of information about the writer and puts them into a symbolic “box of memories”. The very first book by Prokopy Saltykov, his rare photographs, and poems are kept here.

The meeting was attended by like-minded people, countrymen and students. Many of them told how they got acquainted with the works of Prokopy Saltykov and shared their memories in their native language.

«The programs of folklore radio lessons, the famous greeting in the Khanty language “Vushcha ullaty, khanam yoh pa khanam nengat” on the Salekhard radio, performed by Prokopy Saltykov, forever remained in the memory of the people. Such evenings are educational in nature. They are part of patriotic education of youth. We need to do them more often», – said Tatyana Enova, participant of the meeting, resident of Salekhard.

Artists of the Khanty group “Sorni Tutyye” (headed by Valery Pryzhankov) and Valentin Valgamov performed musical tunes on traditional instruments “nars-yukh” and “tor-sapl-yukh“.
