Release of videos in the languages of the indigenous peoples of the North of the Sakhalin region

Video material is being collected, video clips are being recorded, where fairy tales, poems, songs are being read in the languages of the indigenous peoples of the North of the Sakhalin region by native speakers and those who are still learning their native language and practicing. Performers from different places of residence of representatives of indigenous minorities of the North of the Sakhalin region. The lyrics of the song “Shang Lu” tells about a girl longing for her beloved. She hears the dogs barking and sees her lover floating in the distance on a boat. The girl is overcome with sadness: her beloved will leave and forget her. And still she loves him, will wait and enjoy their meetings in a dream. In the Nivkh and Russian languages, Efrosinya Nikolaevna Shalygina reads.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads.
