Stories of Language and Life: A Screening of Digital Stories created by Language Champions Around the World

This International Mother Language Day, February 21, 2025, join the Endangered Languages Project for a free, online screening of digital stories created by ten language champions around the world that give voice to their stories of language, life, memory, and community.  Register at: http://bit.ly/LanguageAndLife

These short films share the real-life experiences of people working to revitalize and reclaim their languages, offering deeply personal reflections on their relationship to their languages, lands, and personal experiences, as well as sharing the motivations, challenges, and joys in their language work.

This screening will showcase digital stories created by language champions who participated in an online digital storytelling workshop convened by the Endangered Languages Project in partnership with StoryCenter in November-December 2024. We invite you to come meet the storytellers, hear their inspiring stories, and support this work. The audience will have the opportunity to interact directly with the storytellers in a Q&A at the end.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
