The 35th anniversary of the Vepsian Culture Society was celebrated at the House of Friendship of the Republic of Karelia

The Karelian regional public organization “Society of Vepsian Culture“ has been rightfully considered one of the leaders of the national cultural movement in the Republic of Karelia and beyond for 35 years.

This is an indicator of the joint work, initiative and civic responsibility of all members of Society for the benefit of the development of the Vepsian people and the entire republic. The members of the society see their task in the preservation, revival and development of the Vepsian language, culture and traditions of the Vepsian people.

In 2024, the Grant Fund of the Head of the Republic of Karelia  supported the Society‘s project “Culture and Language: Today, Tomorrow, Always. “ As part of the project, an interregional seminar was held at the Peoples‘ Friendship House, bringing together representatives of government, public organizations, the scientific community, friends and partners of the Society. 

The seminar participants discussed support for the sustainable ethnosocial and ethnocultural development of the Vepsians, and the evening was decorated with performances by the Vepsian National Choir and children‘s creative groups.
