XVIII All-Russian Festival of Folklore and Ethnographic collectives “Green Yuletide”

The XIX All-Russian festival of folklore and ethnographic collectives “Green Yuletide” gathered today all lovers and connoisseurs of traditional folk culture in the most picturesque place in Gorodets in the museum complex “City of Masters” on the banks of the Volga. Folklore collectives, gingerbread artisans, masters of decorative and applied art from the districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region, as well as the Ryazan Region, the Republic of Mordovia, the Chuvash Republic, the Republic of Crimea, Moscow and St. Petersburg took part in the festival events. The festival traditionally began with a festive procession in national traditional costumes, a large round dance and mass decoration of the birch tree as the main symbol of the Trinity holiday.

A fair-exhibition of products of masters of decorative and applied arts was launched at the site, and everyone could take part in master classes on various traditional crafts. Bright performances of folklore groups, whose performances were able to involve all guests and residents of Gorodets in the mosaic of local traditions of the collective’s places of residence.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads.
