The general objective of the Project is to launch four music labels, which, once established, will remain annually helping the process of recording and releasing songs in the areas of concert music (Kaninga Pero), authorial potiguar music (Kaninga Potiguara), popular music linked to cultural traditions with indigenous protagonism (Kaninga Tapuia), and jazz-influenced instrumental or vocal music (Kaninga Banga). The entire process will be developed by teachers and students from the Music Production (undergraduate) and Studio Practice III disciplines (technical course in Phonographic Processes).

In order to promote and support the development of effective literacy practices around the world and advance the literacy agenda to close the literacy gap of approximately 773 million, every year UNESCO launches two prestigious literacy Prizes, which reward six laureates in total:
The UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize (3 awards): established in 1989 and supported by the Government of the Republic of Korea. It gives special consideration to programmes that promote mother language-based literacy development.
Each UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize winner receives a medal, a diploma and US$20,000.
The UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy (3 awards): established in 2005 and supported by the Government of the People’s Republic of China. This Prize recognizes programmes that promote literacy, including functional literacy, leveraging technological environments, in support of adults in rural areas and out-of-school youth.
Each UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy winner receives a medal, a diploma and US$30,000.

The recording studio “Syo' mati' mya'” (“The House of Singing Voices”) continues to grow in Nadym (Yamal-Nenets autonomous okrug).
The idea of the recording studio was proposed by Ilya Serotetto. He is a young resident of Nadym, a native speaker of the Nenets language, an author of Nenets poems and pieces of music.
Today, a studio for recording authentic Nenets songs is in demand. Ten compositions have already been recorded. Eight of them are old and authentic. Two songs are in a modern arrangement.

Participants of the side event will discuss how to promote the involvement of language activists, representatives of clerisy, native speakers and tradition bearers in the educational process. On the other hand, the discussion will be about the role of governments, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations and businesses by ensuring comprehensive and regular support to those who make consistent efforts on language revitalization. A possible support mechanism could be special programs for language activists, which include elements of psychological and methodological support preventing crises and burnout, facilitating formation of solidarity and overcoming difficult relationships within language communities.

The Lingua-Cultura Experience 2022 Conference is a FREE and non-funded global education and humanities conference. This event will gather language and cultural educators, linguists and other professionals and learners from the global language and cultural communities who will share their knowledge, experience and love for languages and cultures with us. We will be hosting live conversations about topics related to language, culture and identity in languages from all over the world, and we will also be creating bilingual and multilingual spaces for attendees to practice and learn new languages.
The theme of the conference is ‘Exploring the Indigenous and Creole Languages and Cultures of the World’. This conference will serve as a vehicle to promote the learning and use of these languages and cultures while creating a platform to amplify the voices of the speakers of these languages and advocate for language and cultural rights.
In this forum, UNESCO staff members working on multilingual education, the World Atlas of Languages (WAL), and the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL) discuss ongoing initiatives and forthcoming developments. The session follows a show-and-tell and conversation format to facilitate dialogue.

On April 23, 2022, a boarding school in the village of Aksarka, Priuralsky district, hosted a creative meeting between the pupils of the school and Gennady Kelchin, a member of the Union of Writers of Russia, a folklorist and translator of Russian fairy tales into the Khanty language.
More than 40 indigenous pupils of the boarding school, whose parents lead a nomadic lifestyle, and about 10 teachers got immersed into the history of the culture and language of the Khanty people.

The biennial event, which will take place from the 7th to the 10th of June at the Gil Vicente Theatre in Barcelos, will open with the play “O Milagre das Cruzes” (The Miracle of the Crosses), interpreted in Portuguese sign language, performed by the APACI theatre company from Barcelos, which works artistically to include people with disabilities through theatre. From Galicia (region in northwest Spain), comes the award-winning work “O Meu Mundo non é deste Reino” (My world is not of this kingdom) by Teatro da Ramboia, which brings the Galician language to the stage, and from Morocco, the Blanc’art company from Casablanca, brings the show “Soupir” (Sigh) in the Darija dialect. At the end of the programme, and dedicated to children, “Saaraci, o Último Gafanhoto do Deserto” (Saaraci, the Last Grasshopper of the Desert) is performed in Cape Verdean or Creole by Saaraci Coletivo Teatral, a company in the diaspora between Portugal and Cape Verde.
This campaign aims to raise awareness of our Elders and language in Western Australia. Starting with Wardandi country in Western Australia using a message in both Wardandi language and English with the photograph of a local Elder we want to use billboard to promote the message in Margaret River to start with then in various towns across WA using their own language and photographing their elders.
As part of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2022 Special Track on ITCs and Indigenous Languages, WSIS, UNESCO, in collaboration with other stakeholders are co-organizing an online hackathon inviting all interested stakeholders to ideate and create ICT solutions that contribute to the intergenerational transmission, preservation, revitalization, and promotion of Indigenous languages.

Greater awareness of the importance of linguistic diversity and multilingualism.
Full realization of Indigenous language users’ rights, which enhances the application of international human rights frameworks.

Continued support through allocated financial, human, and institutional resources, and infrastructures.
Through 3 challenge areas:
Knowledge - Creation of favorable conditions for knowledge-sharing and dissemination of good practices on Indigenous languages (content management systems, databases…)
Empowerment - Proposing Trainings and Capacity building programmes and solutions to learn and preserve Indigenous languages.
Preservation - Sustaining and archiving tools to build access preserve, protect and revitalize Indigenous languages.

The ICTs for Indigenous Languages Hackathon calls on creators and developers to form age-diverse teams of 2-5 and participate in the virtual hackathon.
