A panel discussion will be organized on the topic of digital empowerment for indigenous languages. One of the pressing concerns raised during the 10th Global Task Force meeting was the lack of compatibility between indigenous languages and existing keyboards and software. Failure to adapt to digital formats may lead to the further marginalization and eventual disappearance of these languages. This in accordance with the output on Digital Empower in The Global Action Plan of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages. The panel discussion will be composed of member states, experts and indigenous peoples representatives from private sector companies for a discussion on challenges and existing opportunities.
